Party Town

Wow Texas is mega, we have been here about a week already and have came to the conclusion, that we are going to stay until the 26th. Yes that's just under 2 weeks..... in Texas, maybe we are idiots after all. This came about due to us handing back our beloved dodge and our next desired stop being Miami. The only problem is flight prices are up to $300, except on the 26th when they are $76.....result. So right now we are in Dallas and we are spending the next 4 and a bit days between here and Fort Worth and a bunch of places in between.

So after Houston, our next stop was San Antonio, we hadn't originally planned to visit here, but after a couple of recommendations we decided to give it a shot. It wasn't really our scene, so we didn't venture to far, it felt more like a place that would be good to retire. On the upside we did find a place to do some indoor karting which was really good fun. We done 3 races of 14 laps, I'm not sure how fast the karts went, but they felt pretty fast. We didn't get the fastest lap (which was the aim) in any races, but I got the feeling some people practically live at that place.

We continued on our Texas trip, venturing into Austin, we couch surfed with a guy called Tony and his pet cat - Mr Cookies, pet tortoise - Shelly and pet snake, which I can't remember the name of. Tony was also hosting 3 girls at the same time. In the day time we generally stayed at his pad chilling, one day we spent most of the day helping to build a huge haunted house outside his house for Halloween. The end result was pretty good and I've added a picture to the gallery of it. One evening me, Glenn and one of the other surfers - Kelly, went to a bunch of bars downtown on 6th street, for me Austin has got the best night life out of anywhere we have been so far, we saw quite a few good bands and one really good band, drinks were also really cheap if you find the right places, although we were drinking the local beers Lone Star and PBR which no Texans really like apparently, I didn't mind them. The next evening all 5 of us surfers went to a house party, I say house loosely as about 100 people lived there and it was massive. It looked more like a crack den than a house. The entire place was filled with graffiti. It was a cross-dressing party so there were loads of people in all manner of attire. I'm pretty sure everyone except us was on something. In fact I'm pretty sure everyone in Texas smokes weed on a daily basis.... whatever floats their boat I guess. Needless to say we met tonnes of people and everyone was nice enough, both evenings we got back to Tony's gone 4am and had a wicked alcohol fuelled evening.

I must say it kind of feels like we are kinda wasting time here in Texas when there is so much else to see, but we didn't want to spend loads of dosh on flights and we wan't to be in a good area for Halloween and so we decided Miami would be a good spot. We have arranged some pretty cool things for the rest of our stay, so stay tuned and hopefully we can get the next blog out a bit quicker than this one.

That has to be one of the funniest blogs you have written. lmao at most of it. Tony's paintings are impressive I really liked them and Mr Cookies is gorgeous, just like Tiger. When you mentioned tortoise I assumed you mean't a little one that fits in a box, not a huge one. Sounds like Texas is one great place to be. Keep us posted with more of your adventures. Love you xxxx
